This is the time of year when we all stop to reflect on the past year and to consider plans for the future. We also remember those who have crossed our paths and touched our lives.
I want to thank everyone who has "crossed my path" this year. Those who have adopted guinea pigs and given them permanent loving homes. Those who have donated to the rescue to help it continue with its mission. And, most importantly, those who have volunteered their time.
Jenn, what a lifesaver you have been, coming several times a week to clean cages, groom, socialize, transport, and anything else that I holler "HELP!" for. Whitney, you have done such a fabulous job with the rescue's publicity and, along with the help of your father Robert, maintained a truly professional Web site. Without you two taking on such large amounts of responsibility, the rescue would not have reached the point that it has. I can't begin to express my gratitude for the work you have both done and the support you have shown.
To our continuing donors -- Laurie, June, Sue, Lori, Frank, Jennifer, Ellen, Linda, Cindy, Kathy, Sandy, Nancy, MJ, and the Guinea Lynx board members, to name just a few -- without your support, the rescue would not have been able to save so many lives or have maintained the sanctuary pigs that we have. You are truly generous and wonderful people.
Becky and Kathy, you have both opened your hearts and homes to some of the younger pigs that need socializing before they can go to their forever homes. The dedication you have shown is immeasurable.
To the doctors and staff at Pieper Olson Veterinary Hospital in Middletown, you are fantastic!!! Your patience with my persistence, your accommodation of the needs of sick or injured guinea pigs no matter what time of day it is, and your compassion are greatly appreciated. Without you, the rescue could not have saved so many lives.
For all of those who help spread the word about the guinea pigs in need, thank you. The guinea pigs truly appreciate your efforts.
And, last but not least, my husband William...the kind-hearted soul who has allowed our home to be turned into a "Guinea Pig Inn," who does all the heavy work carrying out dirty cage bedding and bringing in the clean bedding and hay, who drives me all over to pick up or drop off guinea pigs, and who is supportive of just about anything that has to do with the rescue. You have a heart of gold.
If I have forgotten anyone, I truly apologize. You have all touched my life and my heart. I wish you all a wonderful, safe, and happy holiday season.
